KS1 English Programme 
The integrated English programme has continued this year for KS1. In order to make this programme a success, we have incorporated many authentic task based activities including supermarket shopping, class restaurants, teacher interviews, speaking presentations, a fashion show and role-plays. These activities have been designed to capture student’s interest and motivate them to enjoy and learn English. Our programme also provides students with the chance to work in small groups for different abilities. Small group activities such as guided reading and writing, phonics activities and speaking games have allowed students to receive better support from teachers as well as facilitate meaningful interaction for both enjoyment and learning in English.

A big change in KS2 curriculum

In order to increase the learning motivation of students in KS2, we started a curriculum adaptation programme with the release of EEGs from the government since 2010. Units of work were developed in P4-P6 using a task based approach. We adapted learning materials from textbooks and other resources and designed learning activities to meet the needs and the interest of students. Students used the new language items and learning skills to complete special tasks. Guided reading and writing workshops were held in small groups for different abilities. Graded reading and writing materials were provided for catering individual differences. The programme aims at enhancing students language skills as well as increasing their confidence in learning English.
